B17 Meets Komet PRINT

£100.00

This is a fine art print; however, it is also available to purchase as an original large pencil drawing by John Martin Bradley.

This drawing is based on a story told to me by USAAF B17 pilot Dick Nielsen. A man I liked very much and who I first met when I was 19 years old (many years ago). I am still friends with Dick’s son, Mike.

This is my tribute to Dick, who did a full tour out of Bedfordshire in England.

On the occasion shown in the drawing, a Luftwaffe Komet rocket fighter passes in front of Dick’s B17 with every forward facing 50 cal machine gun in his ship hammering away at the German aircraft.

With some compassion for the German pilot, Dick explained that as the Komet had passed in front of the bomber stream, every other B17 crew had also had a go at him and, in all likelihood, he was dead by the time he passed in front of Dick’s machine.

In the 1990s I visited Dick’s old airfield and took photos of the runway, control tower, Nissen Huts (where they lived) and the local pub where they drank. It gave Dick much pleasure to see the photos.

This fine art print can be delivered all over the world from print hubs I use in the USA, Canada, the UK / Europe, Australia and several other countries.

Please consider buying the original drawing.
